Castor Launches Transcoding Service MediaCloud™ for Broadcasters

Castor Broadcasting today announced the launch of MediaCloud™, a transcoding resource that can be used to convert real-time audio and video for use on PCs, TVs and/or 3G Mobile phones. Based on the Re/Kast Live™ platform, this service enables broadcasters to transmit their live programming simultaneously over multiple channels in a cost-effective way.

Hilversum, The Netherlands (PRWEB) February 16, 2009 -- Castor Broadcasting today announced the launch of MediaCloud™, a transcoding resource that can be used to convert real-time audio and video for use on PCs, TVs and/or 3G Mobile phones. This service enables broadcasters to transmit their live programming simultaneously over multiple channels in a cost-effective way.

Designed for use by Broadcasters connected to the MediaGateway in Hilversum (The Netherlands), the MediaCloud™ is accessed via a secure web based interface through which users are able to remotely set-up and manage the encoding and streaming of live video and audio feeds so that they can be viewed by consumers irrespective of the final network or device used.

"This is the first implementation of a transcoding cloud for live video and audio streams anywhere in the world and we are thrilled to be piloting this new service" said, Matondo Mpiakongo, CEO of the Internet Broadcaster CRTVC.

Castor's MediaCloud™ is based upon Re/Kast Live™, an application that takes care of all the decoding, encoding, content distribution and management tasks required to stream live TV and Radio to consumers.

"We extensively evaluated transcoding applications and found Re/Kast Live™ to be the most flexible and affordable transcoding solution available on the market today" said Edwin Cras, CEO at Castor Broadcasting. "In a world where consumers have an always-connected-mentality through various devices, broadcasters can capitalize on that through an affordable monthly service and without having to make any investment in a costly infrastructure".
